One Million Meals

Feed the world’s poor and hungry. Bought in bulk, a meal costs only 25 cents. KHC raise funds for One Million Meals at the beginning of each Ramadan until funds are collected, and executes the project throughout the year. It costs $50 for 200 meals, $250 for 1000 meals.

People in different areas consume different types of food, based on the agriculture in that area. Most of the time, flour, rice, lentils, dry milk powder, sugar, tea, spices, and oil are given for this project. In addition, a few items meeting local needs are added to the package. Normally a package for a family of five for one week costs $20. Children at schools are also encouraged to donate for such projects so they can learn the importance of giving.

Water Hand Pump

Provides access to potable drinking water. The average cost of each hand pump is $200.

Clean drinking water is a major issue throughout the underdeveloped world. Water-borne diseases are rampant in economically depressed areas inhibiting growth in such areas. Most of the time, there’s no running water provided by the governments; the only alternative is to install hand pumps which can pump out clean water for day-to-day use. Water is found at different depths and different areas, on an average ranging between 10m to 200m. The cost increases as you search for water at lower depths.

Marriage Support for Girls

Pay for the marriages of orphan and poor girls. It costs approximately $100-$300 for each marriage.

The curse of dowry is common in most of the South Asian countries where parents are unable to get their young daughters married due of lack of money. Such grief-stricken and helpless parents sometimes resort to extreme measures such as killing their children and thereafter committing suicide themselves. With your help, KHC supports such parents and provides them with basic necessities to get their daughters married. The items normally include a few dresses, pair of shoes, few utensils, beddings, fan, a sewing machine and some cash for other marriage expenses.
